Where abbey lanes spurs off to poppy drive Reported anonymously at 10:57, Thu 10 June 2021 Firstly this new junction is a poor design and causes congestion on abbey lane trying to get up to Oliver street, with cars now parked along abbey lane outside the front of houses. people also park opposite the cherry tree way junction meaning it can be difficult to navigate without positioning yourself in the middle of the cherry tree way junction or driving over the curb in a LWB van, the mouth of the cherry tree way junction has been made smaller increasing the difficulty for traffic to pass each other safely. secondly the junction is just dangerous. there are no road markings to indicate who has right of way where abbey lane meets poppy drive. since poppy drive spurs off from the main road which is abbey lane you would assume continuing on abbey lane means you do not have to give way as you are not deviating from the main road. however due to the poor design of the junction and the fact you travel straight to get on to poppy drive, drivers also assume they have right of way. this is a recipe for disaster, i have myself witnessed more than one near miss as well as very nearly being involved in a crash with a van! this junction is dangerous, i am shocked there has not already been a serious accident. it is only a matter of time. all we need is a give way sign or two and some white paint across poppy drive, to potentially save a person from being injured in a crash. i think that is worth getting on to asap as this has been an issue for months already
