Cycle Path Very Poor Reported anonymously at 16:00, Mon 20 September 2021 The dual use cycle path / footpath from Barton-Le-Clay to Silsoe alongside the A6 is extremely uneven with depressions over a couple of inches deep, drain covers an inch or more above the path, very rough surface, deep cracks etc. Its also rather narrow. Its more like a mountain bike trail. I use it several times a week, and always see other cyclists, pedestrians and runners on it, so its well used. I also see cyclists on the road, which slows traffic, because the cycle path is so poor. Basically the choice is between a very busy high speed road or a rough old path. Trees and hedges also overhang the path in places, which makes cycling interesting. Due to it being so narrow, nettles frequently overgrow the path which is also challenging. It would seem clear that the narrow 60 cm or so, verge between the road and path could be removed and there is also space before the hedge to expand the cycleway and resurface. Please give this your consideration. I recommend cycling the route from the Barton end (downhill) to truly appreciate the issues. Kind regards Dave
