Front of 65 Elm Park Close

Reported via mobile in the Vegetation obstructing visibility, footway, road, or sign category anonymously at 19:59, Saturday 3 October 2026

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 19506.

I would like to report a council-maintained tree located directly outside my property and request that it is inspected as soon as possible. The tree is now causing several significant problems: Low-hanging branches over the footpath are at head height, and pedestrians regularly have to avoid them. People could easily hit their head or face on the branches, particularly at night or when visibility is poor. This is a particular concern for taller pedestrians and anyone who may not see the branches in time. The branches substantially obstruct the usable space above the pavement, making it more difficult for pedestrians to pass safely underneath the tree. There are parking bays immediately beside/beneath the tree, and branches extend over the parked vehicles. Falling branches/twigs and large quantities of fruit create a risk of damage to vehicles. The tree produces an excessive quantity of red berries/fruit, which falls onto the pavement, parking area and surrounding properties. The berries are regularly crushed underfoot, leaving the pavement dirty and potentially slippery, particularly when wet. The crushed berries are then carried into nearby homes on footwear. In my case, they are being brought directly into my property and are staining and damaging flooring and carpets. The fruit also falls directly onto vehicles parked in the designated bays alongside the tree, creating considerable mess and potentially affecting paintwork if it remains on the vehicles. Because of the size and spread of the tree, I am also concerned about branches falling during strong winds, particularly given its proximity to pedestrians, parked vehicles and residential properties.
