I/We have had so many near misses at this junction in the time I've lived here (15 years) when turning right into Sundown Avenue from Half Moon Lane. On one occasion two speeding cars which appeared to be racing each other where exiting Sundown Avenue on our side of the road just as we were turning in - my husband's quick thinking meant we missed a serious head on collision but this required my husband to mount the pavement which could have resulted in pedestrian injuries! His car sustained suspension damage and wheel unalignment because of it too. These incidences are all caused because residents regularly park along the pictured stretch right up to the junction corner - photos were taken this afternoon, a very quiet Friday afternoon when most were working as I know that at least 2 of these residents are keyworkers. In my/our opinion, what is needed are double yellow lines both sides of this junction, extending around each corner to stop a serious collision because you cannot see up Sundown Avenue in order to make the turning safely when they are all parked there. I have consulted Councillor John Gurney about this over a Facebook messenger conversation in November and he was very supportive. If this is not the channel that I need to pursue with this request then please let me know but I emailed the council via their email address back in the summer but had no response. Many thanks in advance.
