Parking overhanging roads, blocked views, chaos
Reported via desktop in the Road markings and lining category anonymously at 07:38, Sun 14 February 2021
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 351578.
Parking along Ampthill Road around Wynchwood and Bentley Mews road entrances is becoming more and more dangerous. With builders and school parents the visibility when pulling out is nil making this an accident hot spot. Cars and vans frequently park over or overhang drive ways making this area congested for cars and pedestrians. Please can you look into yellow lines to prevent parking around road entrances or white lines over the drivers/road entrances. During the day the street is heaving, come night when it is just residents it is very quiet. Thank you.

Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Your request has been passed to our Traffic Management Team for further investigation. They will inspect the area, look at existing records and investigate the feasibility of the request. They may need to carry out new surveys and consult local Councils or other bodies. They will consider existing budgets and other requests before deciding on the best course of action. All cases vary but this work can often take 4 or more weeks to complete. Please contact us 0300 300 8049 if you would like more information on the progress of this report.
Hbar applications have been received and ordered for these junctions but this request is for DYL.

Thank you for contacting us to request a parking restriction. The issue of parking and how to deal with problems is often viewed differently and there may not be a simple answer to a problem, especially where demand outweighs available road space. Parking restrictions will only be introduced where there is a clear need, with priority given to those relating to road safety. Central Bedfordshire Council currently reviews new parking restriction requests on a holistic basis, taking the wider area into account. Reacting to one concern in an isolated area can potentially move the problem to another area.
You may wish to contact your local town council in the first instance as they will need to support any request for further consideration to be given. Other factors considered when assessing requests are:
accessibility
the possibility of displacing the parking problem to another street
how many people support or do not support the request.
Where a request is confirmed and justified by Officers and there is enough local support, they may be included in a future consultation to make a change to the Traffic Regulation Orders for that area. The whole process can be quite lengthy, and it can take up to 18 months to introduce any new parking restrictions. Thank you once again for your feedback.State changed to: No further action
