Between A5 and Leighton Street

Reported via desktop in the Potholes category anonymously at 12:44, Mon 21 June 2021

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 358119.

Sunday 20th June 2021 at 2.30pm. Absolutely massive pothole (crater) on the road between A5 and Leighton Street junction. Completely unavoidable with oncoming traffic and someone behind me so couldn't brake to avoid. Going no more than 30mph. Burst my tyre and heavily damaged the rim of the wheel. Called out mobile tyre fitter but he couldn't fix it, so had to call a recovery firm to take my car home at £80. The wait for RAC was 4-5 hours and I did not want to wait this long. Another car had the same issue 5 minutes before me and he managed to change his tyre on the roadside by the same pothole. The mobile tyre fitter said he was at the same place on Saturday 19th June 2021 from the same pothole. Extremely dangerous especially in the dark or rain. Now having to pay out approximately £450 for new wheel, tyre and recovery to have a new wheel sorted and without my car for 3 days. I'll be seeking financial compensation for this as I can see this same pothole has been reported multiple times and nothing has been done. Please provide details of how I can get compensation. I am female and was on my own waiting over 3 hours, I became very anxious and worried about being in the middle of countryside, as its never happened before. I hope this never happens to me again...
