There are 3 shops ie Beale butchers currently only 1 space to park cars for customers. Can signs be put up for more parking areas or other suggestions as not sufficient and town has grown over the years. Currently customers parking at dangerous junctions and yellow lines.

  • Thank you for contacting the Traffic Management team in relation to parking in Stotfold

Our existing built environment has developed over many years and unfortunately, the cost of providing sufficient on street parking for the increasing number of vehicles on the road is beyond the level of current public investment.

The majority of our budget is allocated to approved road schemes within our Annual Plan, with a small amount retained for requests received over the course of the year from local residents, Parish and Town Councils, Ward Members and the emergency services. We deliver schemes including speed reduction and traffic calming, improvements to pedestrian crossing points, accessibility schemes, disabled parking bays for blue badge holders, bus stop improvements, parking restrictions, new signage and road markings and other improvements to road layouts and junction designs to improve safety.

In terms of any new interventions, we must prioritise our funding to tackle measures where they are most needed and with a strong focus on safety. At this time, we do not consider that a scheme to provide additional parking for customers to the shops at Regent Street to be a safety priority. However, we will monitor the wider area through our normal inspections to ensure that any safety issues are identified, in terms of inappropriate parking. Thank you for your feedback

  • Ongoing issues with parking daily car owners are not using the shops and only have 3 spacess therefore lose customers. There was a neart accident in the aea as people dont give way as no space to pull in. This is causing car owners to park on double yellowlines and causing more congestion in the area and less parking . There are hgvs coming through daily 40 aprox causing more traffic flow issues. There is a proposed devolpment for 2 1/2 years in the shops area near to layby wich again will cause moe issuesWill be contacting local councillor for more support.
