Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council 5 minutes later. Council ref: 358858.
The area surrounding this drain is becoming dangerous as the surface is once again breaking up due to water flooding each time there is any amount of rain. This drain and the one near to it is not connected to the main sewerage system but runs into a pipe passing under Brightmans Drive which was created when this area was developed, previously there had been a ditch into which the water emptied running under the entrance to what was then Chestnut Tree Farm and on into the ditch in front of the farmhouse finally emptying down Moor Lane. This ditch is now virtually filled in thus blocking water flow and causing it to back up into the road. I have lived here for approaching 50 years so I know this to be true. Water flooding here causes considerable danger to footpath users not just from the water but also gravel washed onto the path which becomes extremely slippery after each downfall. There is a real urgent need for a remedy before somebody falls and is seriously injured. If I can be of assistance in this matter please feel free to contact me.
Thank you for your Highways report.
We have now inspected the defect and no planned repair is necessary at this stage. Please be assured that we will continue to monitor and inspect the road in line with our established service plan.
