Eastern Urban Alleyway Springfield Way-->Lordsmead
Reported via desktop in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 11:38, Wed 14 July 2021
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 359254.
The alleyway *is* adopted by the LA. The tarmac surface between nos 23/25 and Lordsmead is probably original since the 1960s and has never been maintained since we moved here in 1987 to my certain knowledge. The edges of the footway are disintegrating, allowing weeds to grow profusely from exposed soil. This is getting worse every year.
The surface in places presents a trip hazard to users with raised ironwork, tree root incursion as well as the unsightly vegetation which we usually end up clearing, as there have been no highways maintenance visits.
The footway is used daily, mainly by parents and children en route for school. There is no direct illumination of this section at night.
Some action is long overdue though scheduling groundworks contractors to address the symptoms is not an acceptable solution. Other parts of the alleyway *have* had some footway resurfacing as has more than 50% of the Springfield Way footway.
