Overflowing ditches, blocked/ineffective gully drains
Reported via desktop in the Drains/Ditches Blocked category by Brian Hall at 12:58, Thu 15 July 2021
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 359339.
Drainage ditches at new greenend farm and the exit from the Common Road industrial estate overflow onto the carriageway because the culverts and connection to the storm drainage is ineffective. 2 road gutter gully drains fronting onto the industrial estate are both blocked and also higher than the level of the carriageway so water flows straight past. this results in a river down the road, the first guuly drainage it can effectively drain into is out 235/237 Common Road! At 199 Common Road the water comes out of a manhole, eventually cascading across the road junction with the road to Whipsnade. At this time it is extremely hazardous to pedestrians due to the water sprayed across the pavement due to cars ignoring the effects of driving through it.
