On green island opposite No. 19/20 Lime Grove

Reported via desktop in the Trees category anonymously at 17:01, Saturday 31 July 2021

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 359984.

A Ginkgo tree planted a number of years ago is being overwhelmed by the suckers from a Horse Chestnut tree, growing up from a stump left in the ground when the tree was cut down many years ago, presumably because it was believed the tree was diseased. Suggest Ginkgo would benefit from removal of stump. Removal of a second stump to the top of the green would enable easier grass cutting.

  • Thank you for your Highways report.
Following you report we have carried out an inspection and raised an order to repair your identified issue and this has now been added to our programme of works. We cleared the immediate branches to the ginkgo, and will arrange a more thorough job - including clearance of the pruned branches ASAP.

    Many thanks,

  • At approx. 14.20hrs today a tall slim gentleman parked his car outside no. 23 Lime Grove and then proceeded to take photos of the Chestnut tree. He then cut a number of branches and threw them down on the grass where he left them. He then got back into his car and drove off. The car registration number was EJ62 DCU. I am very shocked at the way my complaint has been dealt with, as I fully expected the stump to be ground out.
