Reported via mobile in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 11:10, Thu 5 August 2021
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 360192.
Cars parking both side of street, vehicles unable to get through, especially emergency vehicles as no space. The cars are also up on the pavement so pedestrians are having to walk in the road! Cars wing mirrors are also getting knocked off by other vehicles! Ongoing problem for some months but has worsened past 3 months. Yately close outside number 3,4 and 5 and 25,26. Also blocking peoples driveways. Lots of children live and play in this street, its not safe for them either as cars are blocking incoming vehicles field of vision!!

Thank you for contacting us to request a parking restriction.
The issue of parking and how to deal with problems is often viewed differently and there may not be a simple answer to a problem, especially where demand outweighs available road space. Parking restrictions will only be introduced where there is a clear need, with priority given to those relating to road safety. Central Bedfordshire Council currently reviews new parking restriction requests on a holistic basis, taking the wider area into account. Reacting to one concern in an isolated area can potentially move the problem to another area.
You may wish to contact your local parish or town council in the first instance as they will need to support any request for further consideration to be given. Other factors considered when assessing requests are:
accessibility
the possibility of displacing the parking problem to another street
how many people support or do not support the request.
Where a request is confirmed and justified by Officers and there is enough local support, they may be included in a future consultation to make a change to the Traffic Regulation Orders for that area. The whole process can be quite lengthy, and it can take up to 18 months to introduce any new parking restrictions. Thank you once again for your feedback.
