Confusing Speed Limit Signs

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 360422.
As you leave Leighton Buzzard heading east, there is a 30 speed limit sign just before the vehicle test centre. Then on leaving the 'new' roundabout there is a 40 sign. If you are heading into Leighton Buzzard heading west. The sign just before the 'new' roundabout says 40 and then the one by the test vehicle centre says 30. This makes the stretch from the vehicle test centre to the 'new' roundabout a 30 zone heading east and a 40 zone heading west. Worse, heading east out of Leighton Buzzard, after the 40 sign after the 'new' roundabout there is no other speed limit sign until reaching the 50 sign at the by-pass junction. However, after turning off the by-pass onto Stanbridge Road to head north there is a national speed limit sign. Therefore the section from the 'new' roundabout to the by-pass is two different speed limits 40 heading east and 60 heading north & west.
