Right hand bend in Church Avenue at junction with Brinsmade Road
Reported via desktop in the Road markings and lining category by Brian Prickett at 20:34, Tuesday 17 August 2021
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 360625.
I reported this ( council ref 358283) on 23 June and received a reply immediately saying the area had been inspected and no action was needed. When was it inspected as the reply was immediate ? Cars continue to park on this bend causing danger and photo shows. I would ask you to visit the road and then compare the yellow lines on the next bend some 50 yards away with what is clearly needed on the bend in Church Avenue. ‘ near accidents’ regularly occur here and the simple remedy of yellow lines on the bend would deal with this real problem
Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Your request has been passed to our Traffic Management Team for further investigation. They will inspect the area, look at existing records and investigate the feasibility of the request. They may need to carry out new surveys and consult local Councils or other bodies. They will consider existing budgets and other requests before deciding on the best course of action. All cases vary but this work can often take 4 or more weeks to complete. Please contact us 0300 300 8049 if you would like more information on the progress of this report.

Thank you for contacting us to request a parking restriction.
The issue of parking and how to deal with problems is often viewed differently and there may not be a simple answer to a problem, especially where demand outweighs available road space. Parking restrictions will only be introduced where there is a clear need, with priority given to those relating to road safety.
Central Bedfordshire Council currently reviews new parking restriction requests on a holistic basis, taking the wider area into account. Reacting to one concern in an isolated area can potentially move the problem to another area. Other factors considered when assessing requests are:
the possibility of displacing the parking problem to another street
how many people support or do not support the request.
Where a request is confirmed and justified by Officers and there is enough local support, they may be included in a future consultation to make a change to the Traffic Regulation Orders for that area. The whole process can be quite lengthy, and it can take up to 18 months to introduce any new parking restrictions.
We will continue to monitor Church Avenue over the coming months to determine whether any further action is required. Thank you once again for your feedback.
State changed to: No further action
