Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 360758.
This is a busy pedestrian zone going to Bennett’s recreation ground,Icknield lower school and Queensbury school. Zebra crossings are required at both ends of the road to enable pedestrians to cross safely especially as this is the councils relief road for town centre traffic
Thank you for raising your concerns and thoughts regarding Kirby Road.
We receive many requests for safety features such as formalised crossing points, which far outweigh the limited funding available for these schemes. Our funds are targeted at areas with a history of data that highlights safety critical issues, and measures will only be introduced at locations where there is an identifiable problem, and will be chosen based on the likelihood of road safety improvements.
We note your request, but at this time you may wish to contact your local parish or town council in the first instance as they will need to support any request for further consideration to be given.
State changed to: No further action
