This is a new pothole which abuts a road repair. The traffic at 5 pm was heavy both ways so there was no possibility of taking evasive action at a previously unknown hazard. There were also parked cars on both sides making the road narrower. Having made contact with the pothole we checked the tyre on returning home finding it split (see photo) requiring immediate replacement before driving. The new tyre the following day cost £152.48.
