Street Light No. 7. Broken.

Reported via desktop in the Street Lights category anonymously at 15:03, Sunday 5 September 2021

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 361169.

I reported this several months ago. Street light is not turning on. Light is situated between Elm Park Close and Westminster Gardens. At night it is pitch black. Some of the houses on Elm Park and Westminster face the green area. Residents have to come through a side alley to get to their front doors. It is quite secluded and very dark and in the winter particularly, not very safe I feel. Some delivery people will not come to that part in the winter. Lamp number is 7.

Updates

  • First reported broken light 27/06/21 (Ref: 358464), then again on the 5th July, 21. On 5th September, reported again (Ref: 361169). Street light is still not fixed. Light is situated between Elm Park Close and Westminster Gardens. Light had number 10 but then a sticker with 'light 7A Faulty' was fixed to lamp post. We have to come through a dark, side lane, to get to front door. At night it is pitch black and now that the nights are drawing in, I am getting more and more worried about the safety of residents. My daughter arrives home in the dark and carries an alarm. On Monday I have a food delivery and the man delivering, said that he was not happy delivering to us, as it is so dark and he was nervous, especially when carrying the shopping through the alley to the front door. When is this light going to be repaired?

  • Still open, via questionnaire, 16:05, Sunday 3 October 2021

  • Lighting Team have been contacted Ref. No: 358464 which states street light is between Elm Park Close (and Windsor Drive). Light is actually situated between Elm Park Close and Westminster Gardens as per Reference Number: 361169. I hope this light will be fixed soon as it is very dark by 5 p.m. There is a left hand turn as you enter Elm Park Close, which leads to a cul-de-sac. At the bottom of the cul-de-sac there is an alley on the right hand side that leads to the broken light in question.
