Sandy View Biggleswade Lights B3,2F
Reported via desktop in the Street Lights category anonymously at 22:04, Tue 7 September 2021
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 361271.
The street lights in Sandy View (all of them) are not lit. The ones outside my property are B3 and 2F. This area of Sandy View has lots of elderly residents and we have also been plagued recently with drug dealers hanging around in the adjacent alleyways. Police are aware of the drug dealing. Could we get some priority on this please.

Another call received regarding this issue. Residents concerned for safety as this area is extremley dark with out these lamps working, and many of the residents here are elderly.

After dark yesterday I walked the entirety of Sandy View and Nursery Close. ALL of the street lights in Sandy View were out. At least two of the lights In Nursery Close were out too. In my opinion this has to be an electrical supply problem. In May this year the same type of fault was rectified. It's pitch dark on the Jubilee Recreation ground without any street lighting and the pathway on the eastern side is well used. Mostly elderly people live in the adjacent bungalows and chances are someone will have an accident after dark due to the current situation.

Five days have now passed since I first reported that all of the lights were out in Sandy View. If there is any doubt about how dark it is along the footpath on the eastern side of the recreation ground the photograph above makes the point. The only lights in the photograph are in the houses on the western side of the recreation ground. The footpath is well used, not just by Sandy View residents, but also by residents of the new estate which borders the northern side of Sandy View. For the elderly residents who live in the bungalows which border the Jubilee Recreation Ground it is very frightening looking out on to pitch darkness. They are worried about who might be hanging around. This area has a long crime history. From antisocial behaviour, assault, attempted rape, criminal damage, theft (the most recent incident was the theft of fuel from two cars which were parked in the residents car park) and very recently drug dealing. This is the second time (May 2021) that ALL the lights have been out for a period of days. Obviously I and the other residents are worried that this may be a recurring problem and to that end it needs to be fixed permanently. Once again I make the request that this problem is given high priority.
