Please pass this on to the transport/highways/planning/road works departments. i have written before but have not had any reply, but the situation is getting serious in the avenue , flitwick. could you please try and put in a raised junction at the avenue / easton road / brookes road junctions. the reason for this is because there will probably be a very nasty accident here , as drivers drive well over 30 mph along the avenue as it goes down hill slightly which encourages them to speed. only the other day i witnessed a car overtake another car waiting to turn into easton road , passing it on the right hand side. if the waiting driver had moved there would have been several injured people , and probably a car hitting a house as the overtaking driver was doing about 60 mph , as i estimate it. it was more through luck than judgement that the cars missed each other , but one day someone else will not be so lucky. the avenue , flitwick is in a terrible state of repair , especially on the top part. motorbikes are continuously wobbleling or swerving to miss the drain outside my house at 17 a. as well as the road surface some of the curbs need repairing. the whole road needs properly resurfacing not just patched up yet again. i hope you will take notice of me this time, and that i will receive a reply , this time.

Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Your request has been passed to our Traffic Management Team for further investigation. They will inspect the area, look at existing records and investigate the feasibility of the request. They may need to carry out new surveys and consult local Councils or other bodies. They will consider existing budgets and other requests before deciding on the best course of action. All cases vary but this work can often take 4 or more weeks to complete. Please contact us 0300 300 8049 if you would like more information on the progress of this report.

Thank you for contacting Central Bedfordshire Council in relation to The Avenue in Flitwick.
We receive many requests for traffic calming measures which far outweigh the limited funding available for these schemes. When decisions are made on how our budget is spent to improve the road network, the most serious issues are prioritised. In terms of any new interventions, we prioritise our funding to tackle measures where they are most needed and funds are targeted at areas with a history of speed-related collisions.
According to our records, there have been no reported incidents in the past three years along The Avenue, therefore the current collision history data does not suggest that the road requires further interventions at this time. It is unfortunate that a minority motorists travel above road speed limits. If you think vehicles are travelling in excess of the permitted speed limit on a regular basis, please contact Bedfordshire Police on the non-urgent number of 101.
State changed to: No further action
