Outside 16 and 18 The Lane,Tebworth

Reported via desktop in the Kerbs category by Lesley Smith; Clerk to Chalgrave Parish Council at 09:59, Tue 28 September 2021

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 361967.

Thank you for your update regarding the unsafe steps at the location above. I've received the following message from one of the residents: "If they remove them this means we will have to carry loads, e.g. shopping to and from our cars either by walking up or down the road then back along the pavement to our houses, likewise when we collect our bins which the waste operatives always leave in the road. The grass bank is too high and steep to negotiate." On their behalf I'm requesting, and would be grateful, that the steps be replaced rather than just removed. Thank you.

Updates

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
Our engineers have inspected the area and are satisfied that this is the only option available. While we understand this is inconvenient, we have spoken to our Traffic Safety team and as these steps would now no longer be able to be installed safely to the latest safety specifications, they would have to be removed. We apologise that this is the only option we have available, but this is the case.

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
