Overgrown hedge

Reported via desktop in the Trees category anonymously at 09:11, Thu 30 September 2021

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 362050.

Resident has called and was being passed between different departments within Customer Services regarding the hedge outside of her neighbours property. She has advised that this hedge is 3-4 metres tall and is 20 metres wide as it is a corner plot. Number 8 Elmhurst Gardens, She has advised that this is also a private property however as she was passed from housing to highways and then to waste, she was not happy to be transferred to another team again and asked if i could submit a grounds maintenance enquiry to find answers from the Environmental Service Officer or be passed on to the correct department.

The hedge has got berries and hawthorn in it which is causing a risk when trying to walk past as it is sharp. In addition it has grown over on to the public footpath and is causing an obstuction. Resident is concerned that this is now dangerous as buggies and wheelchairs are needing to go in to the road to walk down this section of path and this is a risk.

Resident has also asked if there are any restrictions on height or general size of hedges?

In addition, she has said that she has contacted the council various times about this hedge and has had no answer. She has asked for direct contact to discuss this report and discuss arrangements for regular maintenance as the last time that this was arranged was a year and a half ago.

Please could this be offered to the correct department or advise be given to resident in regards to this enquiry?
