Damage to residents cars on bower lane

Reported via Android in the Crash barriers category by Jade Colebrook at 15:24, Thu 21 October 2021

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 362902.

It's the second time in 2 months that people think that bower lane can be a 2 way road when residents cars are outside.

I have a picture of the damage to my next doors car. The postmans van also had damage...

Combined with speed and the tightness of the road something needs to be done. Whether it's chicanes something to stop 2 cars driving down from both ways when people's cars are parked out the front.

  • Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Your request has been passed to our Traffic Management Team for further investigation. They will inspect the area, look at existing records and investigate the feasibility of the request. They may need to carry out new surveys and consult local Councils or other bodies. They will consider existing budgets and other requests before deciding on the best course of action. All cases vary but this work can often take 4 or more weeks to complete. Please contact us 0300 300 8049 if you would like more information on the progress of this report.

  • We receive many requests for traffic calming measures which far outweigh the limited funding available for these schemes. Our funds are targeted at areas with a history of speed-related collisions and measures will only be introduced at locations where there is an identifiable problem (that is, a trend in collisions) and will be chosen based on the likelihood of road safety improvements.

We note your request, but at this time you may wish to contact your local parish or town council in the first instance as they will need to support any request for further consideration to be given.

State changed to: No further action
