Kerb on bend of Elm Park Close
Reported via desktop in the Kerbs category anonymously at 16:33, Sun 31 October 2021
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 363227.
People increasingly parking on Kerb opposite Drives in front of garages making it too narrow for Emergency Service Vehicles to get through. Damage was even caused to my car whilst it was parked as someone misjudged the gap, hitting my car and damaging both it and theirs resulting in an insurance claim. The attached picture is marked up where the issue is.
Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Central Bedfordshire Council is in the process of implementing area-wide verge parking controls. An engineer will inspect and assess the site. If appropriate your request will then be passed to our Traffic Management Team for further consideration. Please contact us 0300 300 8049 if you would like more information on the progress of this report.

Thank you for contacting us to request a parking restriction.
The issue of parking and how to deal with problems is often viewed differently and there may not be a simple answer to a problem, especially where demand outweighs available road space. Parking restrictions will only be introduced where there is a clear need, with priority given to those relating to road safety. Central Bedfordshire Council currently reviews new parking restriction requests on a holistic basis, taking the wider area into account. Reacting to one concern in an isolated area can potentially move the problem to another area.
You may wish to contact your local parish or town council in the first instance as they will need to support any request for further consideration to be given. Other factors considered when assessing requests are:
-the possibility of displacing the parking problem to another street
-how many people support or do not support the request.
Where a request is confirmed and justified by Officers and there is enough local support, they may be included in a future consultation to make a change to the Traffic Regulation Orders for that area. The whole process can be quite lengthy, and it can take up to 18 months to introduce any new parking restrictions. Thank you once again for your feedback.
State changed to: No further action
