Missing Give Way Signs & Road markings

Reported via Android in the Road markings and lining category anonymously at 19:54, Sun 7 November 2021

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 363489.

At the junction where Russell Close joins Ridgeway there is no road marking or signage to indicate who has right of way. Twice this week I have had to brake sharply whilst travelling on Ridgeway to avoid a car coming out of Russell Close without stopping or slowing down. There needs to be some kind of guidance to show who needs to give way: either traffic joining Ridgeway from Russell Close, or traffic already on Ridgeway.

Updates

  • State changed to: Investigating

Updated by Central Bedfordshire Council at 19:54, Sun 7 November 2021

  • Thank you for contacting Central Bedfordshire Council regarding your concerns relating to the Russell Close / Ridgeway junction.

An inspection has been carried out, and there is adequate signage in place to signify that traffic from Russell Close is joining a one way street, just as there is from the Plewes Close junction. Therefore traffic coming on to Ridgeway should take heed of the signage and be prepared that there could be vehicles travelling along Ridgeway, and therefore failure to do so is a driver behaviour issue.

Given that both of the junctions mentioned aren't a through road, and therefore only serve the local residents to the area, there should be knowledge of the layout by most users of these 2 junctions, and providing any additional road markings or signage is therefore a low priority for us at this moment in time.

At this time we acknowledge your request, and will keep in mind for future consideration.

State changed to: No further action
