Speed limits and road direction
Reported via iOS in the Signs category anonymously at 17:49, Friday 28 January 2022
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 366519.
No speed signs or direction of travel indicated when entering Olma Road. As this road is a walking route for students attending All Saints Academy including my own children I can’t believe we still have no speed limit signs or direction of travel! This is a very dangerous road with cars entering Olma road thinking it’s a “short cut” speeding along a single carriage way. Olma road and Capron road should have some form of speed humps to slow the traffic. Speed limit signs or someone’s life!!!

Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. Requests for speed limit changes/traffic calming will be reviewed and prioritised accordingly against all other requests across the county. We do not alter speed limits based on the perception of an issue. Requests will be reviewed based on a number of factors including collision history and independent traffic volume and speed counts over a 7 day, 24 hour period, along with meeting suitability with DfT guidance and prioritised accordingly. Should the request meet all the criteria it may be added to the Capital Works Programme for future years.

Passing request back to Area Team as the 20mph sign is missing and should be reintstated which is a maintenance issue.
Traffic Management Team will look in to additional repeater signs in the new financial year.
No requirement or need for 'Direction of Travel' signange. Olma Road is a 2 way road, as indicated by the markings are the entrance.
