3 Greenways, Eaton Bray, LU6 2BG

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 366614x.
Outside driveway of 3 Greenwaya, Eaton bray, lu6 2bg.
Extremely high curb due to ditch caused by mud being churned up by heavy vehicles outside our driveway. Issue has been present for 2 years, it has gotten worse since gas works where carried out in 2020 on the street. This is because of heavy vehicles not being able to pass on the street (because of narrow road and parked cars) so needing to bump up the verge, it was filled with soil after the works finished but immediately went back to the same as we have many delivery vans daily bumping up the curb. It is now worse than it has been before over this winter.
I have damaged a tyre & my dads bumper was damaged as curb took the bumper off the car when he pulled onto the drive because the ditch is so deep.
I am also concerned as it’s a very dangerous tripping hazard.

To add to report: The issue can’t be fixed with just soil as it’s repeatedly driven on & when it rains it just makes a new ditch. It’s very frustrating as we risk damaging our 2 cars to get onto our own driveway, parking on the street only causes more issues as parking is limited so neighbours get frustrated and we don’t want to upset anyone. I think issues have already been raised in parking in the street, it’s down to parking issues that people bump up the curb as tight for large vehicles to get through sometimes.
I am also concerned as it’s a very dangerous tripping hazard which worries me for our older neighbours & the children that play out.

Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
Our engineers have inspected the area and are satisfied that no further action is required at this time. Many thanks,
Central Bedfordshire Council HighwaysThank you for your report. At this time of year this type of work would not be carried out as most of our vegetation works happen in the spring/summer time. I am also concerned that by repairing this defect and making the verge look nice again I will be encouraging people to park on it which is not permittable. For now there will be no further action however I will be looking into potentially installing bollards in these verges once repaired to prevent them being damaged again in the future. Kind regards.

T/C from customer, customer is concerned that if bollards are installed, they won't be able to get unto the driveway. Customer advised that, there are elderly residents living in that area, and the high kerb is a hazard to them. Customer advised that they mind paying for it to be tarmac if possible. Please can customer be contacted if possible, to discuss this further.

In 2022 you raised a FixMyStreet request to Central Bedfordshire. We are contacting you to notify you that your report has been closed from our system. We have recently begun our partnership with a new Highways contractor and as a result we need to close previous cases that were outstanding with the previous contractor, this is part of an ongoing administrative process.

If you see issues on the highways network, please continue to report these directly through FixMyStreet.
Many thanks,
