Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 367250x.
Vehicle parks constantly blocking the drop kerb , preventing pedestrians, pram and mobility users from access at the crossing point. Safely. Users must then walk into the road towards oncoming cars to pass the vehicle blocking the path. Children on bikes also are at risk as there is no other path to use

Thank you for contacting us to request a new parking restriction.
There may not be a simple solution to a parking issue as the demand for on-street parking often outweighs the available road space. The number of licensed vehicles has, for the most part, steadily increased since the Second World War, with nearly 40 million registered vehicles owned in the UK. Approximately a quarter of these are estimated to be parked on the street overnight. It is hoped that in the long term there will be a reduction in car dependency but in the short term, car ownership is unlikely to significantly reduce. We have learnt that reacting to one parking concern can often move an issue to another street. With this in mind, Central Bedfordshire Council review new parking restriction requests on an annual basis, identifying any trends and looking at the wider area before any changes are considered. Your request will be kept on file until the annual review has taken place.
Restrictions will only be introduced where there is proven road safety issue, the issue is not likely to be moved to another area and, if the proposals are supported by local Ward Councillors and Town/Parish Councils.
Please note that parking restrictions are not appropriate to protect residential driveways. In this instance, an H bar is more suitable, to remind drivers there is an access present and that the area should be kept clear of parked vehicles. In 2022 you raised a FixMyStreet request to Central Bedfordshire. We are contacting you to notify you that your report has been closed from our system. We have recently begun our partnership with a new Highways contractor and as a result we need to close previous cases that were outstanding with the previous contractor, this is part of an ongoing administrative process.
If the issue is outstanding and you believe it to be an emergency, such as exposed electrical wires, please contact us on 0300 300 8049.
If you see issues on the highways network, please continue to report these directly through FixMyStreet.
Many thanks,
