Thank you for contacting us in relation to Bury Hill in Potton.
We receive many requests for traffic calming measures which far outweigh the limited funding available for these schemes. When decisions are made on how our budget is spent to improve the road network, the most serious issues are prioritised. In terms of any new interventions, we have to prioritise our funding to tackle measures where they are most needed and funds are targeted at areas with a history of speed-related collisions.
We recently conducted a traffic survey to the east of the Fire Station and the speed of vehicles travelling westbound into Potton in the 30mph limit was 32.8mph, within the Enforcement Tolerance guideline value. There is also an existing Speed Indicator Device installed, drawing attention to westbound traffic, travelling towards Potton.
The Fire Station location is just within the 20mph limit. We have checked the accident history and there are no recorded Personal Injury Collisions on this length of Bury Hill and no further inventions are proposed for this location at this time, however we shall continue to monitor this location over the coming months.
State changed to: No further action
