Union Street Pavement both sides

Reported via desktop in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 16:26, Thursday 24 March 2022

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 369652.

Works have been completed to re-surface the pavement on Union Street

However the quality of the surfacing is poor compared to other resurfacing (First Avenue) It is nor level and even in places. The surface appears to be unfinished (a rough dressing) and of poor quality. Also in a number of cases the surfacing has encroached over the servie covers

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
The works completed on Union Street is a different surface treatment compared to the standard traditional repairs undertaken on First Avenue. Union Street was selected as a trial site for a slurry seal treatment, which is designed to extend the life of the existing surface by protecting it from ingress of water and the effects of freeze thaw. The rough texture is intensional as it helps slow down the deterioration of the original surface. Any encroached service covers will be revisited by our contractor and made accessible.
No further action is required at this time.

    Many thanks,
