New traffic control causing big probkems
Reported via desktop in the Road markings and lining category anonymously at 21:21, Wed 13 April 2022
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 370510.
Traffic chaos at the "new" traffic lights and road layouts in the centre of Dunstable.for cars from High Street North, High Street South, West Street and Church Street. Traffic going straight ahead from High Street North is held up by cars in the same lane turning right into West Street, so cars are switching lanes to go around the stationary cars and go straight on - but that takes them right into the path of cars on a right turn into Chuch Street from High Street South!! Its is impossible to see what might be coming towards you when you are sat at the lights on High Street South waiting to tun right into Church Street. The filter to turn right is on a delay (why??) , but you cannot turn right before the filter comes on unless you want to risk an accident - total mayhem with cars tooting and not understanding what is going on. Cannot believe people are actually paid to come up with these ridiculous ideas on traffic management.

Still the same chaos in the lanes at the lights in the centre of town with drivers switching lanes when stuck behind traffic waiting to turn. The Council is doing nothing about it. It is clear that Lots of traffic is avoiding the centre of Dunstable because of these ridiculous new traffic lanes, and many more cars are using the rat runs around the town.
