Oak tree

Reported via iOS in the Trees category anonymously at 12:16, Mon 9 May 2022

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 371289.

There is a very large oak tree next to our house and is causing us many issues and concerns. Having spoken to the council this morning I was advised to fill out this report. The tree makes creaking noises when it is windy which we have not heard before. I cannot hang washing out because of the bird mess and my granddaughter cannot play in the garden. On the occasions she has been in the garden she has come in with mess on her. We were told in July 2020 we could prune the tree ourselves. As this is on council land I don’t see how this is my responsibility. If you look back at your records you will see we had issues with a large branch falling on the side of our house taking out part of the roof and all of our fencing. Please can somebody have a look at this for us.

  • Thank you for your Highways report.
Following you report we have carried out an inspection and raised an order to prevent the branches from touching the property. Please note that the other issues raised in the report are considered 'nuisance' and are not covered in our Tree Policy as reasons to prune otherwise healthy trees.

    Many thanks,
