Road markings holding up traffic and causing accidents
Reported via Android in the Traffic Lights - Permanent category by Mike Drew at 14:29, Thu 12 May 2022
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 371440.
The new road markings in Church Street are a shambles. Vehicles going from Church Street to West Street are held up by traffic turning right into High Street North. The left lane at the same time is marked to turn left into HS South only. Very few vehicles use this lane compared with those going straight on. Some vehicle are jumping the queue be using the left lane to go into West Street. Please remark the lanes as they were ie. Left and straight on. And the right lane turn right only . This applies to the rest of the badly marked junction. Whoever planned this junction obviously does not live here to see the chaos they have created.
Rather than improving the town centre it has made it worse.......Please fix it properly

The Road markings in Dunstable Town centre are causing more hold ups due to the lane markings being wrong. Traffic from church Street turning right are holding up traffic wanting to go straight on to West Street. Some drivers are now using the left lane (turn left only) to go straight on as it used to be..... If you feel the markings are wrong , please complain to the Highways department Central Beds Council.

Who actually decided that the markings should have been changed from how they were? Is it to make it so frustrating to go through the town centre that no one will drive through?

Still not changed the markings, still so many people driving up the wrong lane to go straight on. Why won't the council listen to the comments and change it back. Obviously they don't live anywhere near so don't care...
