Outside number 8 chapel close Toddington

Reported via mobile in the Street Lights category anonymously at 13:47, Tue 17 May 2022

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 371600.

Street light was knocked over in an accident. By a speeding car which shunted a parked car up the lamp post knocking it over. This corner is very dark now at night and with an uneven pavement someone could fall over. There are two big trees which also make it darker. This will be a very dangerous hazard in the autumn and winter months when it gets dark early. This is also a very busy road in school time. A new post and light need putting back. The damaged post was cut down and removed by the council just after the accident but no sign of a new post being put back. This is also an area with elderly residents many vulnerable. Please put the light back ASAP.

Updates

  • The place were the light was knocked over looks like council workers have put grass seed down to cover the area. The residence in this road need the lamp post back up for safety. If someone did fall over due to the darkness and the pavement not being flat to walk on they would now have a case to claim against the council.
