This crossing is used daily by hundreds of families trying to walk or scoot their young children to the local nursery and Primary School in Rook tree lane. As a mother of two young children, I have personally witnessed several near misses of families trying to cross to the Green from Common Road en route to school, as heavy lorries and vehicles steam down Regent Street and approach from four directions. This is a four-way crossing, and a pedestrian crossing needs to be installed as a bare minimum before there is loss of life.

Thank you for contacting us in relation to Regent Street in Stotfold. We will ask our Road Safety team to conduct an assessment of this junction during school times to better understand the numbers of pedestrians, school children and motorists at this specific point along Regent Street. This assessment will be carried out in the autumn when school returns to ensure normal activity is observed. Thank you once again for your feedback.
