30 mph sign needed
Reported via mobile in the Signs category anonymously at 08:09, Wed 22 June 2022
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 372758.
Because someone believes Mill Lane, Malthouse Lane, and Wrayfields in Stotfold are 60 mph, could you improve the signage to indicate the lanes are 30 mph? The road markings are not clear and signs need to be in place or clearer. And don't cut the hedges please, birds are nesting in them.

Thank you for your feedback related to signage. The Traffic management team will assess the signage along these routes to ensure they are in accordance with Traffic Sign Regulations and do not require maintainance. If we decide that overhanging vegetation is blocking any signs, this will be passed across to our tree team to consider the most appropriate action. Thank you once again

Thank you for contacting us in relation to roads in Stotfold. We have reviewed your request for additional speed limit signage along these country lanes. There have been no reported incidents in the last 3 years and we do not consider additional signage is required for safety reasons. Further signage would be unlikely to change the behaviour of a minority of drivers who travel above speed limits across the network. Also, these roads are rural in nature with minimal residential properties affronting them. The roads were previously national speed limit and were changed at some point over the last decade. The residential areas are now within a 20mph speed limit zone. Overhanging vegetation is dealt with by our Tree team who normally programme works to take place outside of the nesting season.
