Many potholes of various size and depth
Reported via desktop in the Trees category by Barry k. Barnes at 11:58, Sat 22 October 2022
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 377171.
Road is a disgrace, drop curbs are outrageous in bad state. I think 8 Trees have been removed, these MUST be replaced. I have been assured over the past year back to August 2021 these will be replaced and the other road and pavement issues also. However, now I have been told these are not in this years or even next years budget, this is not acceptable. The road is now a disgrace, I have lived in Furness for almost 33 years, it has never been so bad, the dangers of the paths for older people and mobile equipment, there have been 8 falls on the paths, myself included, with at least 2 hospital involvements, I was one. There are old people apartments at the top, you should be ashamed to let this Avenue without trees get in such at disgraceful state of dangerous repair. If this is not actioned I will be forced to take it higher.

I cannothink accept your comment regrading services too close to surface to allow new tree planting. I have lived in Furness Avenue for almost 23 years and never have new services been added to the Avenue in this time, also you added a new tree around 12 - 15 years ago outside number 12 which has since been removed, you planted it then so you can plant a new one as no changes have taken place before or since then to the walkways. And other trees which you have also since removed, so no reason why it cannot happen again with all these trees. No services have been added or changed in over 30 years.

As I have reported these problems many times before and no actions have taken place. I mentioned I have lived here for 23 years by mistake, in-fact I have lived here for 33 years next month and no underground work have been carried out during this time, therefore it is BS to state the underground services restricts them for planting new trees when they planted a new tree some 12-15 years ago. Also the potential dangers to pedestrians especially the elderly and those with mobility vehicles, push chairs and children scooters etc., remains a concern. The tarmac on the drop kerbs, have largely been reduced to loose rubble as are the areas where trees were, the road looks a mess. Despite promises to improve the avenue, it is just deteriorating like the road surface itself. I have now put our case to JVS on 3CR in the hope he can help us, failing this I will take it to our MP.

Still open, via questionnaire -
I was on the JVS show on 3CR on the 8 Dec, he had a responce from BDC stating they will be contacting me regarding potential repairs, however they still maintain they will NOT replace the 8 Trees they have removed. As of today I have heard nothing from BDC as promised. I will continue with my quest until I secure results.
