Urgent Request for Yellow Box Junction at Frenchs Avenue and High Street North Intersection, North Dunstable
Reported via desktop in the Road markings and lining category anonymously at 09:33, Tue 28 March 2023
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 386329.
I am writing to bring your attention to a pressing traffic issue in North Dunstable that has been causing significant inconvenience for local residents, school-goers, and office commuters alike. I kindly request your immediate attention and intervention in installing a Yellow Box Junction at the intersection of Frenchs Avenue and High Street North.
As you may be aware, during peak hours, motorists traveling along High Street North towards Dunstable often block the right turn at the junction, leading to a considerable traffic backlog within Frenchs Avenue and surrounding residential areas. This has become a major issue for parents and guardians during school drop-offs and pick-ups and for office-goers trying to reach their workplaces on time.
Additionally, the right-turn window from Frenchs Avenue into High Street North (towards Dunstable) is very short. When this window is blocked, particularly by heavy goods vehicles, it disrupts the fair flow of traffic in the area, resulting in even more significant delays and frustration for all road users.
A Yellow Box Junction at this particular intersection would help alleviate these problems by ensuring that motorists do not block the right-turn window, allowing for smoother and more efficient traffic flow during peak hours. This would not only ease the current congestion but also improve overall road safety for all users, including pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists.
As a concerned resident, I strongly urge the council to take swift action in implementing a Yellow Box Junction at the Frenchs Avenue and High Street North intersection in North Dunstable. I believe this simple yet effective solution will significantly enhance the quality of life for local residents and contribute to a safer, more efficient transportation system within our community.
I would appreciate your prompt response and a commitment to resolving this issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require further information or clarification on this matter.
Thank you for your time and attention, and I eagerly await your response.
