Reddings Hill, between Milton Bryan and Eversholt

Reported via desktop in the Road Surface category by Peter Horrocks at 18:00, Thu 19 October 2023

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 395906.

This is not strictly a road surface issue, but is the best category for this problem. Ben Callender has advised the Milton Bryan village meeting Chair that we should use FixMyStreet to apply for a revision to the gritting run for icy weather. The hill between from Milton Bryan to Eversholt (known as Reddings Hill) is the scene of regular accidents when vehicles go out of control down the steep hill into the railings on the corner. Icy weather of course makes this worse. There are also a number of school buses that use this route. Based on general safety and children’s safety we believe there is a strong case for this hill to be included on the gritting run. More information can be provided as you consider this initial outline request. Beyond the issue of icy weather the high number of accidents at this location should be taken into account in examining improved road signs and markings.
