Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 396295.
These drains were put in a few years ago on the left hand pavement as you head from the A507 roundabout to the centre of town. This is the side with the grass verge. These drains are there to divert the excess surface water on the pavements, into the road drainage system. When it rains heavily, rainwater runs down the slope of the Amthill Road and collects in the ‘valley’ area at the entrance of Penfold Close and further along by the entrance to Campton Road and Davy Drive. The excess water then floods Penfold Close and properties 5 and 6 in the close. All of these drains are now completely blocked with plants and debris and are totally ineffective, as they have not been cleaned for many years. We would like to request that these drains are now comprehensively cleaned as a matter of urgency and before the Autumnal/winter rains hit us and cause flooding in this area. Previous council reference As per my previous report Council ref: 388852. Made on the 10/5/23. The pavement drains were not attended to during the June/July works.
