Drain on Path outside 2 Mill Rd

Reported via mobile in the Drains/Ditches Blocked category anonymously at 10:19, Mon 12 February 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 401652.

This site and department are an absolute joke, they must have inspected this issue in the dry again for the second time. Every time it rains the water is pouring out of the top of the drain and flooding the road. The edging around the drain is crumbling and failing. This is the second time this department have so called inspected it and closed the case. This is the update I received, absolutely unbelievable I said in the last reporting that they can speak to me, however they seem to be incapable of any communication -Thank you for your Highways report. We have inspected the area but were unable to find the issue you reported at the location provided in your report. If this is still an issue please provide further information on your report to help us locate the problem. Many thanks, Central Bedfordshire Council Highways

  • Rained last night so here we go again, this is becoming a joke. 5 times I.ve reported the same issue since November 2023, I know a lot of these work from home now, but they need to get out (when it.s rained hard) and have a look, no good setting up a reporting system if they don.t look and react to the issues. It is very obvious that the drains are blocked, surely it.s not that hard, however maybe it is and maybe it.s time to get our MP involved as this is totally unacceptable on any level. I have offered the council to contact me directly but they seem unwilling to do it. It might be time for a change in staff if they cannot manage the basic principles of communication

  • Have seen that you have raised multiple times. Apologies this hasnt been sorted sooner. This has been cleared that this is not Anglian Water, and I am raising an order to get CCTV survey done. Thank you for your Highways report.
Following you report we have carried out an inspection and raised an order to repair your identified issue and this has now been added to our programme of works.

  • Thank you for the update, I did see .Conway. clearing the drains in Tilsworth Road, however raining today and it.s starting to flood again and outside 2 Mill Road is pushing water out again, so there is a problem somewhere in the link, also walked around Stanbridge village today and a lot of drains are blocked. The constant water flooding out of the drain on to the cover has caused substantial damage to the integrity of the concrete and it is cracked and crumbling causing the drain to be loose, this is being driven over daily as it.s in front of the drive, therefore can you please include this in your inspection as it is a safety issue and could cause injury if it does collapse
