Tring Rd, Wellhead - unsafe, dangerous footpath
Reported via mobile in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 20:33, Thursday 14 March 2024
Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 403880.
Original Footpath covered or dramatically reduced in most areas by grass/shrubs/overgrowth/unpruned trees /earth bank etc The pavement is for pedestrians safety alongside an exceptionally busy and dangerous road. This pedestrian pavement is impassable for elderly people in scooters or wheelchairs and for young children in pushchairs and prams, meaning such have to use the very dangerous highway. Local governments are encouraging use of carbon free transport yet don't accommodate basic statutory pavements in residential areas! Where is the consistency?
Please reinstate correct statutory width highway footpath to at least one side of the carriageway in this area as has been recently provided in other areas locally.
Recent accidents have occurred on this stretch and urgent action is essential before serious injury or deaths occur.
Excessive Hundreds of thousands of pounds are spent by local authorities (ie recent town centre facelifts/repaving) on aesthetic improvements while fundamental basic infrastructure for basic suburban town residents to access town is overlooked and ignored.
There have been significant appeals for this issue to be addressed over several years and this has gone unaddressed.
Please notify me of a meaningful course of action planned to take place with deadlines.
