Lighting proximity to Toucan Crossing

Reported via desktop in the Not Turning on category by Steve Lakin at 10:31, Friday 10 May 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 406529.

RSA for Toucan Crossing reads as follows:

Street lights between the toucan crossing at the One-O-One Roundabout were not working. This may prevent drivers from noticing pedestrians and especially faster-moving cyclists approaching the toucan and calling their green signal. If the signals change immediately, drivers may brake sharply, causing a shunt type collision or fail to react and subsequently strike a pedestrian on the crossing. The outage also prevented the team observing how effective the lighting is with the lanterns close to the tree canopy.
