A507 Toucan Crossing

Reported via desktop in the Traffic Lights category by Steve Lakin at 10:35, Fri 10 May 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 406530.

RSA reported the following issue... ...The rotating cone to indicate ‘green-man’ stage, which is underneath the pedestrian/ cyclist push-button box on the northwest corner of the toucan crossing has been damaged. When the green signal displays for pedestrians to cross, the rotating cone cannot be felt properly. Visually-impaired pedestrians dependent on this tactile information may be unaware of when it is safe to cross. They may misjudge oncoming traffic and cross into the path of moving vehicles and be struck by vehicles, or cause drivers to swerve and collide with other vehicles or street furniture. The defective component needs replacing.
