Hedge growing into road

Reported via desktop in the Trees category by John Baker at 18:54, Thursday 16 May 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 406829.

On the (blind) bend prior to Church Hill is a hedge that grows into the road. Every few years it needs a cut back and that time has come once again.

Updates

  • State changed to: Investigating

Updated by Central Bedfordshire Council at 18:54, Thursday 16 May 2024

  • Thank you for making a report, however Central Bedfordshire Council are not responsible for this matter. The last time we conducted work here we did not conduct sufficient ownership checks. See attached GIS and Land Registry proving this is the responsibility of the adjacent properties. The brown in the GIS clip is the officially adopted highway, which shows a approx. 1m wide strip of unowned land between the end of the property and the road. The vegetation obstructing the highway is rooted more than 1m from the road (mostly the lime tree's basal growth and ivy). We will speak to the owner to clear the obstruction.
    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
