Reported via mobile in the Road Potholes category anonymously at 12:26, Thursday 30 May 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 407467.

I previously reported the problem with dangerous road conditions but I received the following reply:

"These are not yet at intervention level. Thank you for submitting your Highways report. Due to current budget constraints, we are having to prioritise repairs for defects that pose higher risks in accordance with our Network Management Maintenance Plan assessment criteria, the details of which can be found online transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

After inspecting the reported issue, our engineers have determined that this doesn't currently feature as a priority for repair. Rest assured, we'll continue to monitor the defect during future inspections. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your report."

I would like to join the engineer for the inspection because I do not agree with your report, There are multiple potholes, causing severe damage to the car. I dont know how they make assessment about the road, it clearly has multiple big potholes, car wheels hitting it and causing severe damage.

I would like another team to review my request because despite contacting you guys multiple times previous along with many residents reported the problem, I always get this same outcome report.

If this doesn't get sorted out , I will have no other choice but to this forward for a legal challenge and I will be cancelling any payments I make to council. I do not pay council and road tax to drive on broken road! many thanks for doing nothing

  • Thank you for your Highways report.
An order has now been raised to rectify the identified issue and this will now be added to our programme of works. We are, unfortunately, unable to provide you with a timescale for this work to be completed, however, all repairs are prioritised using an assessment matrix in line with our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP)

We will continue to monitor all defects to ensure the safety of our residents as part of the NMMP which can be found online - transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
