Saxon Drive

Reported via desktop in the Pavement and Cycle path category anonymously at 11:07, Thu 20 June 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 408292.

Two issues combined are a road safety concern. My professional role is that of Police Traffic Management Officer. The prolonged absence of functioning street lamps at this location is now exacerbated by overgrowing shrubbery adjacent to the shared use footway - there are sections are now effectively impassable forcing cyclists and pedestrians to walk on the grass verge and roadway - this creates a conflict with the speed limit being 40mph with potential with collision and injury.

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
We already have maintenance work planned in for this area (vegetation works) and the issue will be resolved as part of this work. We are, unfortunately, unable to provide you with a timescale for this to be completed, however, all repairs are prioritised using an assessment matrix in line with our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP).

We will continue to monitor all defects to ensure the safety of our residents as part of the NMMP which can be found online - http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
