Junction with Leighton Buzzard by-pass

Reported via mobile in the Road markings and lining category anonymously at 19:39, Wed 10 July 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 409060.

All road markings for giveaway for traffic turning into bypass from Eaton Bray/Tottenhoe or using deceleration lane coming off bypass and turning left (south) are worn away. Vehicles roll over where give way line should be onto bypass or fail to stop at deceleration line. I was almost involved in an accident tonight by a driver who failed to stop leaving the bypass. This is REALLY REALLY DANGEROUS.

  • At night you cannot tell where the giveaway line should be so vehicles regularly sit with their noses out into the live 50mph carriageway.

  • Thank you for submitting your Highways report.
We already have maintenance work planned in for this area and the issue will be resolved as part of this work. We are, unfortunately, unable to provide you with a timescale for this to be completed, however, all repairs are prioritised using an assessment matrix in line with our Network Maintenance Management Plan (NMMP).

We will continue to monitor all defects to ensure the safety of our residents as part of the NMMP which can be found online - http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx

    Many thanks,
