Blunham Highstreet - flooding

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 409468.

Two different drains close together - overflow and ejecting slippery silt and slim during and after heavy rain causing a public hazard. The beam has been used by a shop keeper as a warning but it an even greater hazard in the dark.

  • Thank you for contacting us with information relating to a Highways issue. We plan to inspect the site during the next instance of significant rainfall (that takes place during working hours) and decide on the best course of action.

  • Last night's rain (2/3 Sept) seems to have pushed more silt up through the drains. While a wet night this did not seem to be abnormal amount of rain. Note: the silt is very similar colour to that in the SUD which drains the site for the new houses on The Hill in Blunham.
