Trees adjacent inbetween footpath / driveway to village hall and 1A Shefford Road side fencing

Reported via mobile in the Trees category anonymously at 15:11, Wed 24 July 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 409662.

This thin line of trees is actually on CBC owned land (whilst driveway belongs to Meppershall Parish Council). The trees have grown to a height and breadth that significantly restricts access to sunlight for 2 velux windows of 1A Shefford Road. Additionally, overhanging branches and sap have been affecting the condition of the roof of 1A Shefford Road. Resident requests that CBC reduce height of trees.

  • Unfortunately, as per our policy, we are not obligated to prune trees back to allow additional light into property, nor are we obligated to prune for sap drop, leaf drop, bird mess, or other seasonal issues.

Additionally, due to current budget constraints, we are having to prioritise repairs for defects that pose higher risks in accordance with our Network Management Maintenance Plan assessment criteria, the details of which can be found online http://www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/ transport/ roads-strategies/ highways-asset-management.aspx.

    Many thanks,
    Central Bedfordshire Council Highways
