Number 4a, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Hedley Way, MK45 2BY

Reported via desktop in the Drains/Ditches Blocked category anonymously at 11:22, Wed 25 September 2024

Sent to Central Bedfordshire Council less than a minute later. Council ref: 412105.

We have had severe flooding down the whole bottom part of Hedley Way due to build up of surface rainwater. This flooded several back gardens and also came very close to entering the houses at the front and rear of the properties. The drains have not been cleaned for a number of years plus the culvert at the back of the properties has not been cleared due to the build up of foliage blocking the system especially when the trees along the A507 were taken down. This will only happen again if we have this rainfall on severe levels as we have seen in the past couple of days. I have lived down this road for 29 years and we have never seen this accumulation before.

Updated by Central Bedfordshire Council at 11:22, Wed 25 September 2024

  • This weekend’s flooding and overflowing gullies are largely the result of extreme weather. We will continue to monitor the area in a more moderate amount of rainfall and assess at that stage if remedial works are required.

State changed to: No further action
